GLENORMANS

Around the turn of the 19th Centuary (1898 – 19) land was being taken up in the Great Southern and especially land within easy access to the Great Southern railway line. Wagin, Woodanilling and Katanning were being established as townsites and along this section of the line districts were named as settlers selected their land. District names such as Cartmeticup, Boyerine (rail siding 9km west of Glenormans), Moojebing and Glencoe became districts of first choice with very good farming land in a safe rainfall area. The Glenormans property sits right in the middle of these districts with the Cartmeticup School grounds now forming part of the property.
Heavy land was the first to be selected however with the development of superphosphate, trace elements and clovers the medium soils were soon taken up.
Woodanilling/Cartmeticup has developed into a very reliable productive farming area with several adjoining or close by properties being operated by fourth to sixth generation farmers.
